Quasi-Variants

Last Updated: October 8, 2024

Quasi-variants enable you to group products to be treated as variants of the same product. This feature simplifies the exchange process by letting customers choose from all possible variants, even if they are listed as different products.

What is a Quasi-Variant?

Quasi-variants enable you to treat related products (such as different colors or sizes) that are listed separately in your catalog as variants.

When using quasi-variants, ReturnGO will automatically detect related products based on their name format.

Even if these products have different product IDs and are listed separately in the store catalog, ReturnGO will group them together in the exchange process, treating them like standard product variants.

Requirements

This feature is currently in closed beta and not currently available to all merchants.

Capabilities

  • ReturnGO groups related products based on name format without requiring any manual tagging or configuration.
  • Customers can exchange different colors or sizes in a variant exchange process, as if they were regular variants.
  • The system handles product grouping automatically once the feature is activated.

Limitations

  • The product names must be exactly the same in order for them to be recognized as the same product. Products are grouped based on the product titles. Rather than relying on the automatic mechanism for option names, you need to manually add something like "size or color" even if some products have other options or don't have a color etc.
  • Inventory levels are confirmed only after product selection, which may result in out-of-stock items being initially displayed.

How to Enable Quasi-Variants

You will receive assistance from the ReturnGO team in enabling quasi-variants.
