Unified Portal
Last Updated: April 19, 2026
Unified Portal allows customers to begin the return process from either portal link. Once the customer enters their order details, the system validates the order and automatically redirects them to the correct portal.
Note: Unified Portal is enabled by default for stores with both domestic and international return portals configured through Global-e.
Requirements
Before getting started, ensure the following are in place:
- Global-e Integration is set up on your international portal.
- You have separate domestic and international return portals.
- Each portal is configured independently, including its URL, integrations, customer notifications, and text customization.
- Test orders are available for both domestic and international returns.
How It Works
Unified Portal works alongside your existing separate domestic and international portal links. The flow works as follows:
- A customer opens either portal and enters their order details.
- After submission, the system validates the order and checks whether it belongs in the current portal.
- If the order belongs in a different portal, the customer is automatically redirected to the correct one.
- The customer then continues the return process in the correct portal.
Tip: It is recommended to use your International Portal URL. Your customers will be directed to the correct portal based on their order.
Test the Unified Portal
Test the following scenarios to verify that redirection is working correctly:
| Scenario | Expected Result |
| Open the domestic portal and enter a domestic order | Customer remains in the domestic portal |
| Open the domestic portal and enter an international order | Customer is redirected to the international portal |
| Open the international portal and enter an international order | Customer remains in the international portal |
| Open the international portal and enter a domestic order | Customer is redirected to the domestic portal |
Verify It Worked
Check the following to confirm Unified Portal is working as expected:
- A customer can start the return process from either portal link.
- A domestic order entered in the domestic portal remains in the domestic portal.
- An international order entered in the international portal remains in the international portal.
- A domestic order entered in the international portal is redirected to the domestic portal.
- An international order entered in the domestic portal is redirected to the international portal.

Notes
- Domestic and international portals remain separate and are managed independently.
- Each portal has its own URL and must be configured separately, where relevant.
- Unified Portal does not merge portals, it only handles cross-portal redirection.
