Integration With FedEx Ground Economy

ReturnGO is FedEx-certified and integrates directly with FedEx to help you manage your return shipping. For more information about the general FedEx integration, click here.

FedEx's Ground Economy service (formerly known as SmartPost) has specific requirements and steps that must be taken in order to use this service level in your ReturnGO-FedEx integration.

Requirements

To connect your FedEx Ground Economy account to ReturnGO, the following conditions must be met:

  1. The FedEx account used for returns is enabled for Ground Economy Returns.
  2. You have access to the FedEx developer portal.
  3. The FedEx developer portal has a project with access to test keys. The project must be opened with the Ground Economy Returns-enabled account

Note: FedEx Ground Economy can only be used within the United States.

Enabling Your Account for FedEx Ground Economy

FedEx Ground Economy Returns must be enabled for your account by FedEx. To enable this service, please contact your FedEx Account Manager. For more information on FedEx Ground Economy, click here

When connecting your account:

  1. ReturnGO creates a test label on your behalf.
  2. You use the test labels to get certification from FedEx.
  3. Once the certification process is complete, connect your FedEx account in ReturnGO using the production credentials from the FedEx developer portal.

To enable your FedEx Ground Economy account for the ReturnGO integration:

  1. Go to developer.fedex.com and log in or create an account.
  2. Once you are logged in, click on My Projects on the left side menu.
  3. Click Create a project.
  4. Select I work for a company that ships with FedEx and is using a third-party software solution that has requested API keys.
  5. In the popup, enter the following information in the form:
    1. Third-party company - ReturnGO
    2. Third-party product - Ground Economy Returns
    3. Third-party product website - returngo.ai

6. Select Ship, Rate & Other APIs’options and check the following APIs to enable on your account:

a. Ship API
b. Tracking API

7. Click NEXT.

8. Give your project a distinctive name and select the territory - United States.

9. Select Yes for FedEx SmartPost Returns.

10. Select whether you would like to receive FedEx API email notifications.

11. Read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and check the box if you agree.

12. Click CREATE.


13. Click NEXT and check the relevant boxes on the next screen.

14. Click CREATE and the new project will be available in the My Projects tab.

15. Once your project is successfully created, copy your API key and secret and reach out to ReturnGO’s support at support@returngo.ai or by chat directly from your ReturnGO dashboard.

16. ReturnGO will then create a test label for Ground Economy Returns and share it with you.
17. Once you have the test label, you can move to production. Click the Production Key tab in your FedEx developer portal and assign the shipping account that is enabled for Ground Economy Returns to the production key and click NEXT.
18. You will then get a set production API key and secret. Copy your production API key and secret to somewhere safe and click DONE.
19. In order to apply for certification, fill out the Label Cover Sheet with the relevant contact information as well as what services you plan to implement. Include your account number and production key.

20. Send the test label generated by ReturnGO to label@fedex.com and add the Mailer ID you received from your FedEx account manager to be used with Ground Economy. The certification process should take 1-2 business days.

21. Once you receive the confirmation email, you will be able to use the FedEx integration directly from ReturnGO.
